Caitlin - Orlando, Florida
To communicate with Caitlin, you may contact her parents via email. They'd love to hear from you.
Our daughter Caitlin was born in 1998 along with her twin brother Christian. Caitlin was born with her right arm stopping right below her elbow.
At first the whole family was worried that Caitlin's "Army" (What she calls her little arm) would hinder her when it came to doing things that other children do. Thankfully, Caitlin who is 10 in October, doesn't give up easily. Even though some things are very difficult to do with one hand she tries her best and doesn't give up.
Caitlin has learned to type, play video games, hang on the monkey bars, tie her shoes, swim, and numerous other things we were afraid she wouldn't be able to do. Just this August Caitlin learned how to latch hook and is working on a butterfly creation. This was a very difficult job and even had Caitlin very upset because it took so long to figure out. After about 30 minutes she finally yelled to us, "I did it!!" The feeling of accomplishment felt, "good," Caitlin says.
As of now Caitlin is working on learning to play her guitar and do a one hand cartwheel, both are difficult but she refuses to give up! We are very proud of Caitlin and she hopes becoming a Superhands kid will inspire others, help her get inspired, and gain new pen pals!!
